The local partner who turns a plan on paper into buses, guides and rooms that actually show up.
A DMC Bangkok engagement — or anywhere else in Thailand — means appointing a destination management company: a locally licensed operator that handles the on-the-ground delivery of your group’s programme. That covers transport, accommodation contracting, venues, guides, activities, dining, staffing and on-site management. A DMC isn’t a travel agency selling seats; it’s the operational partner your agency, corporate planner or event organiser relies on to make the itinerary actually happen in-country.
What a DMC actually does
Operational delivery, not just booking
A destination management company is the in-country operator that executes a group programme. Where a travel agency or corporate planner owns the client relationship and the concept, the DMC owns the logistics: sourcing and contracting hotels, arranging airport transfers and coach movements, securing venues, supplying licensed guides, building activity and dining programmes, handling permits, and putting staff on the ground to run the days as scheduled.
Why local matters
The value is local knowledge and local accountability — knowing which venue actually works for 120 people, which pier handles a group at 08:00, how long a transfer really takes in traffic, and who to call when a flight lands two hours late. That’s difficult to replicate from overseas.

Bangkok and beyond
Multi-destination programmes
Many Thailand programmes combine cities: a conference in Bangkok followed by an incentive reward in Phuket or Krabi, or an arrival in one and a departure from another. That’s routine to plan, but it needs a partner who understands the internal flights, transfer times and seasonality of each destination. Our own operational base and deepest expertise is in Phuket and the Andaman coast, which is where we deliver directly — worth knowing when you’re comparing partners for a Bangkok-centred brief.
Licensing and due diligence
Check this first
In Thailand, tour operators are licensed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and a valid licence number is the baseline check before you contract anyone. Ours is TAT License No. 34/02294, held by True Design Holidays Co., Ltd. Ask for the licence number, the registered company name, and confirmation of insurance — and be cautious with any operator reluctant to provide them.
How DMC pricing works
Why there’s no price list
DMC work is quoted per programme, because cost is driven by group size, dates, hotel category, venue choices, transport volume and staffing levels. Two groups of 50 travelling the same week can differ substantially in price depending on what they want. Expect a proposal with itemised components rather than a headline per-person rate, and expect peak-season dates to price higher and need earlier commitment.
What to ask before appointing one
The questions that reveal quality
- What is your TAT licence number, and which destinations do you operate directly?
- Who from your team is on site during the programme, and at what ratio?
- Can you share references for groups of a similar size and type?
- What are your contingency plans for weather, delays and medical issues?
- How are payment terms, deposits and cancellation structured?

Frequently asked questions
What does a DMC do?
A destination management company is the in-country operator that delivers a group’s programme on the ground — transport, accommodation contracting, venues, licensed guides, activities, dining, staffing, permits and on-site management during the event.
What is the difference between a DMC and a travel agency?
A travel agency or planner typically owns the client relationship and the concept, while a DMC handles in-country execution. The DMC contracts local suppliers, manages logistics and puts staff on the ground to run the programme.
Who uses a DMC in Thailand?
Corporate planners running incentives and conferences, overseas travel agencies needing a ground handler, event and production agencies requiring local logistics and permits, associations, and MICE buyers of all sizes.
How do I verify a Thai DMC is legitimate?
Ask for their Tourism Authority of Thailand licence number and registered company name, and confirm insurance. Ours is TAT License No. 34/02294, held by True Design Holidays Co., Ltd. Be cautious if an operator won’t provide these.
How much does a DMC cost?
There’s no fixed price list. Programmes are quoted individually because cost depends on group size, dates, hotel category, venues, transport volume and staffing. Expect an itemised proposal, with peak-season dates priced higher.
Can one DMC handle Bangkok and Phuket together?
Multi-city programmes are common — a Bangkok conference followed by a Phuket incentive, for example. What matters is which destinations a partner operates directly; our own delivery base and deepest expertise is Phuket and the Andaman coast.
Plan with confidence
Group, event and incentive programmes depend on venue availability, seasonality and group size, so quotes are prepared per programme rather than from a fixed price list. Work with a TAT-licensed operator (License No. 34/02294), confirm venues, transport, staffing and inclusions in writing, and reconfirm rates and availability before contracting. Peak-season dates and large groups should be secured as early as possible.
