There’s no single best — there’s the one that fits your group, your budget and your night.
What is the best evening show in phuket? There isn’t one answer, because the four main options serve different audiences. Carnival Magic is the biggest spectacle and best for families wanting a full evening. Phuket FantaSea is the most theatrical, built around Thai mythology. Simon Cabaret is the shortest and most affordable at around 70 minutes from roughly 800 THB. A Muay Thai fight night is live sport rather than performance. Your choice comes down to group, budget and how much of the evening you want to commit.
The four main options
What’s actually on offer
Phuket’s evening entertainment splits into four distinct formats, and treating them as interchangeable is the main reason visitors end up at the wrong one. Two are large theme-park productions in Kamala, one is a compact cabaret in Patong, and one is live combat sport. They differ in length, price, atmosphere and who they suit.
| Show | Length | Format | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carnival Magic | ~4–5 hrs (50-min parade) | Lights, parade, theme park | ~1,750 THB |
| Phuket FantaSea | ~3–4 hrs (70-min show) | Theatrical, Thai myth, elephants | ~1,800 THB |
| Simon Cabaret | ~70 min | Cabaret variety, comedy | ~800 THB |
| Muay Thai fight night | ~2–2.5 hrs | Live sport | ~1,500 THB |

Carnival Magic
Best for families and spectacle
Carnival Magic in Kamala is the newest and largest of the options — a Thai cultural carnival park lit by around 40 million lights, holding nine Guinness World Records, with a fun fair, buffet, a 50-minute parade and a walk-through illumination park. It fills an entire evening and is the most visually overwhelming choice, which is exactly why families and photographers rate it. See our Carnival Magic guide.
Phuket FantaSea
Best for a theatrical experience
FantaSea, next door in Kamala and under the same ownership, centres on “Fantasy of a Kingdom” — a 70-minute staged production drawing on Thai legend, with acrobatics, illusion, pyrotechnics and live elephants. The grounds add a cultural village and a very large buffet. It’s the more narrative, theatre-led option. See our Phuket FantaSea guide and the FantaSea vs Carnival Magic comparison.
Simon Cabaret
Best for a short, affordable night
Simon Cabaret in Patong has run since 1991 and is the shortest and cheapest of the four at around 70 minutes from roughly 800 THB, with three performances nightly. It’s a family-friendly variety show of song, dance and comedy in an air-conditioned theatre, and because it’s brief it slots easily around dinner or a night out. See our Simon Cabaret guide.
Muay Thai fight night
Best for sports fans
A Muay Thai fight night at Patong or Bangla stadium is genuine live sport, not a performance — six to eight bouts over roughly two to two-and-a-half hours, starting around 21:00. It’s loud, social and atmospheric, and quite different from the produced shows. It suits sports fans and older children more than young or sensitive kids. See our Thai boxing guide.

Practical planning points
Things that catch people out
- Carnival Magic and FantaSea run on alternating evenings — check your dates

- Simon Cabaret tickets don’t usually include a transfer
- Photography is restricted inside the FantaSea theatre
- Premium seats and buffet slots sell out first in high season
Can you do more than one?
Combining shows across a trip
Easily. Because Carnival Magic and FantaSea alternate nights, seeing both across separate evenings is straightforward, and 2-park combo tickets exist. Simon Cabaret’s short runtime means it can share an evening with dinner, and a Muay Thai night works on any evening the stadiums are running. For a week-long stay, two or three shows is comfortable. See all options on our Phuket shows page.

Simon Cabaret, from around 800 THB per person for roughly 70 minutes. Carnival Magic starts from about 1,750 THB, FantaSea from about 1,800 THB, and Muay Thai fight nights from around 1,500 THB.

Simon Cabaret at around 70 minutes, with three performances nightly. Muay Thai runs about two to two-and-a-half hours, FantaSea needs three to four hours including the park, and Carnival Magic four to five.
Can you see more than one show in a trip?
Yes, easily. Carnival Magic and FantaSea alternate evenings, so seeing both on separate nights is straightforward, and combo tickets exist. Simon Cabaret’s short runtime means it can share an evening with dinner.

Book with confidence
Show days, performance times and ticket prices change from season to season, and some dates add extra performances. For a smooth evening, book with a TAT-licensed operator (License No. 34/02294), confirm your seat category, buffet and transfer inclusions in writing, and reconfirm current prices and availability at the time of booking. Advance booking is strongly recommended for premium seats, which sell out first in high season.
